How did the world become like it is today? Off the top of my head:
U.S. opioid crisis
Syrian refugee crisis
daily European terror attacks,
massive social divisions
+/- 20 different powers close to war in Syria
war on the korean penninsula
CIA/NSA spying on US citizens

where is Obama?

God help us.

I fall into the trap of only looking at one side of the equation too.

I get nostalgic about the 80's and 90's often, but the truth is, there has never been a better time to be alive than right now.

Life is good. If we have to take out DPRK and Kim thats how its gotta be.

Could this syrian strike be a head fake to get the price of oil back to 70?

Its a win for all oil producers (russia, iran, iraq, syria)

Focus on ISIS

Over utilization of prescription medications. Lack of an emphasis on hard work and education. Upping the graduation rate by basically passing kids along that didn't deserve it. 24-hour news/TV cycle.

It all goes back to March 2003, when Bush invaded Iraq.

Only a dumbass would think we aren't living in the greatest time period in history. The "good old" days are a lie from people that can't cope or adapt to the modern world.

I tend to blame Harry Truman. He pushed for the United Nations. He didn't unleash Patton on a very vulnerable Russia, and he didn't let MacArthur whip China's arse once and for all.

Those three things would've solved a lot of problems. A victorious Korean War and (presumably) no Vietnam War and no U.N. Security Council (with Chinese or Russian votes) to stymie us at every turn.

The greatest time in history was in the 90's. It was a great time to be an American (even with Clinton in office). That is just my opinion though. After the wall came down there was a sense of calm for awhile.

Best time of my life and I'm in my 40's.

No one is a dumbarse for voicing an opinion

My grandpa grew up during the great depression, wwII, korea, vietnam, and so on and he says the best times to be alive was after the Soviet Union collapsed and in Clinton's years as president.

Now he sees things going backwards again.

The "modern world" is made of of many facets, not just, "Hey! ain't all this "stuff" cool?" The erosion of objective reality in a larger and larger percentage of the civilized world, creates growing negative influences and problems in the world.

Because most of this stuff could have been going on in the 50s, 60's and 70's and we would have been blissfully ignorant of it.

If someone farts on someone else in Budapest there's a story on the internet about it.

Lot's of things that went down in the 50s and 60s, we found out about in the 90s.
