the number of illegal border crossings on the Southwest border has dropped from over 800k in 2006 to less than 100k in 2016.

Maybe this is why Congress doesn't think a wall is needed - DHS told them the numbers have plummeted. Not sure why some people are suddenly so concerne

How many will cross in 2020 or 2028? Or 2050?

Fosnizzle isn't going to come back to his own thread and lay it all out for us? Shocked!

I guess it's just as well. Once he had done that, I was going to ask him how 100K walking across our border, to avail themselves of taxpayer funded healthcare, housing, education, college tuition, etc, wasn't a crisis.

We spend 130 billion dollars per year on these people, but somehow we can't afford 6, or 10, or 20 billion to build a wall to keep new arrivals out. Has to be the pinnacle of democrat idiocy.

I know its a lot - in fact $100 would be too much - but that sounds excessive. I've heard numbers like this before - what is the source for that?

If true, I'll quote it myself, but I really hate putting forth flawed data.

We do now but if 100,000 keep coming in every year with many of them voting illegally then we won’t have one much longer. The Dems will take over and continue where Obama left off. But they’ll do it in overdrive. The insanity of the dem party has been put on full display. Any American who loves this country and our constitution is an idiot if they still support the Dems

And this is just immature irrational thinking.

This is your thinking:
my neighbor stole 30,000 dollars from me last year. This year he only stole 10,000. so it’s cool, he can hang onto my debit card. I’ll let him keep stealing from me as long as he steals less than 30,000. Eventually you would have no money left!

Here’s one source. It’s 116 billion after taxes. If you think it’s an “aggressive” number, just half it or cut it into 1/4. 1/4 of that 30 billion. It’s still WAAAY to much and we are idiots for allowing this. The money we earn is paying this multi billion dollar bill EVERY YEAR. It’s absolutely nuts there are working Americans who don’t support building a wall.

Also, below is a source on the number of illegals in the country actually being 20-26 million rather than the often said 11 million

I'm always hesitant to cite numbers created by any agency with a point of view to publicize. I suspect their analysis is always skewed to enhance the results they want.

I'd rather stick with numbers more reliably conservative and qualify it as "at least" - and follow that by saying - 'other sources say twice that many.'

Any number greater than a billion is absurdly, insanely, unreasonably too much!! Make that point and let the discussion of the actual number become just a triviality.

And the sad thing cajun, that does not include anchor babies that also suck the benefit teat at a much higher rate than their citizen counterparts that are not first gen immigrants. In other words, they arent improving their lot in life, nor the country.

The immigrants that came to Ellis Island did so for a better life, there was no govt teat to suck.

berrycajun stole my thunder, but I thank him for the assist. His link and mine take you to essentially the same place. Looks like we actually spend 135 billion, and get back 19 billion in taxes.

I don't really think even that can be a true representation, because of the government services rendered, where legal status is not sought, or given.

Oh I agree - whatever number given it will always be way too low - there is no way of gauging the cost of the degradation of our culture has on the future.

The real question here is, where the hell is Fosnizzle, to use his obviously superior intellect to explain to us how an outlay of 100 Billion dollars plus every year doesn't constitute a crisis, and make an expenditure of 10 or 20 billion dollars to stem the tide of new arrivals probably the greatest ROI in the history of the US government?

They have no idea how many cross. But if it is just one it is too many.

And they keep saying 90% of drugs come through ports of entry? How do they know that? When they say that 90% comes in are they meaning that the stop those drugs or that there are massive amounts that come though without being found. If so we need new screeners and more dogs.

Nothing should come through unchecked.

I am sure that the cartels will use whatever way they can to bring in their product. And an unsecured border is easier than taking a chance by using a container or 18 wheeler that may be checked.

Who says we weren't so concerned in 2006? Just because you lived in a shell doesn't mean everyone else did.
