Any issue of inequality. Best example is the incarceration rates for marijuana for minorities vs white folks. Same crime. Different statistical outcome.

Why aren't you protesting blatant favoritism toward women in the CJ system?

You act like they are a foreign species, dude. Great, you had lunch with some of them once.....most people interact with repubs and dems everyday of their lives, most people have family that are both dem and gop.

Saying " I broke break with a trump guy once" is like saying "I have a black friend"

Don't take this the wrong way, because you couldn't help it, but politically speaking, you probably are a lot more politically sheltered than the average person.

You grew up in a heavily black precinct, you went to k-12 school with 80% of people who are racially similar to you, and therefore politically similar. You have zero close family members who are anything but hardcore dems, so you never got to see the other side of issues growing up, and ended up getting it ingrained in your mind that the other side is evil, stupid, wrong, etc, without actually hearing anything from that side.

Not possible to be more on the nose than this.

I likely talk openly to more liberals in a week about issues than Dev will in his lifetime the reverse(other than on the internet)

Um.......you read the above then typed

quote:

Nope. I disagree with many of the left's solutions to poverty. In particular, I think giving healthy working age people cash indefinitely is objectively absurd.

Which isn't actually a rebuttal of the original statement.

You believe that people don't accept certain problems because they don't agree with your solutions. That's just fact. I've seen it on this board

If you attach goals like education of training and put a limit on it, I'm fine with it

We've had some great discussions here lately. You're too weak to handle any disagreement.

Yup.

If some Republican offered to cut off welfare in accordance with what Dev typed..........that dude would make the press coverage of Trump look like a full time rhetorical blow job.

Is Trump a conservative or have classic conservative beliefs? I'm gonna say no.

Conservatives are opposed to an ENORMOUS amount of the status quo.

You probably need to get out more.

I've met several while traveling actually. We listened to each other...some admitted that their vote was basically a protest vote. Others explained their position feeling left behind, etc.
quote:

" I broke break with a trump guy once" is like saying "I have a black friend"
Not exactly what I said. My statement was plural...multiple Trump voters. And once again, you are confusing identity that someone has no control over with behavior. Being tolerant of all behaviors is not part of any philosophy I can think of.

quote:

Not true.

quote:

You have zero close family members who are anything but hardcore dems,
Not true.

quote:

Nope. I agree with conservatives on a number of issues. The reason I can not vote for Republicans in national elections is because the ugly side of the right is far less tolerable to me than the ugly side of the left. Whenever I see something happen that I simply cannot live with it seems to come from the right...hence my political affiliations.

This board does little to assuage that notion.

I'm just using the simple logic of if you're not moving forward then you are either staying in the same place or moving backward.

Not everything can be simplified into such black and white, linear thinking.
Just because I’m not [X], doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m [Y].
Maybe I choose to “move forward” (your words) n a different way than you?
Maybe I “move forward” in some ways, but value the status quo (or historical approach) in other ways?
You’re seeing the world through your lens—as most of us do.

Not at all. But bring forth an unpopular view on the board and there will be 50 people lined up to put words in your mouth and straight up lie about what you’ve actually written. That’s not discourse. You can’t have a dialogue with the dishonest.

I agree...Should need to be in school or learning a trade as an apprentice, etc.

Children muddy the waters but there has to be a way to ensure a child receives basic needs and education without enabling healthy adults to never work.

How am I defending? I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy. And the phrase double standard was even used by the OP. OP's post was a double standard in itself.
