Not many (if any?) public officials support it openly. But there are probably more elected libs that want it regardless of what they say.

I don't think all proponents have the same reason.
Some are just pure globalists - they think we are all citizen of "earth" and should be able to move about freely
Some believe that those who flow back and forth will work for cheaper wages
Some know that many people who come here will need assistance, and it's a way to do that
I personally think we need a much easier immigration policy, and we need to enforce TF out of it
