You see, you don't understand!!! You are paying triple the cost so some poor, discriminated against, disadvantaged person can sit in front of the liquor store, stay drunk all day, not go go to work and still have medical insurance without paying for it.

Now, doesn't that make you feel better?

Self employed, family of six. Our premiums soared to $1900 a month, with a $2000 individual deductible, and a $6400 max out of pocket. Insane!! We opted for a medishare
Co-op plan for now.

I still remember the old Obamacare threads . As a self employed person I was hit earlier than most and I brought my numbers to the board . “ Liar ! Racist ! “ was pretty much the response. I pointed to oppressive costs, they imagined I was a Klan member who cooked sick children in weird Republican- led rituals.

Now of course ,you can’t find anybody to defend it that has actually ever had a job and supported a family. You just have the single- payer subterfuge crowd , holding out like Japanese soldiers on a Pacific Island in 1964.

I am single, self employed, mid-forties, non smoker and I make too much to qualify for a subsidy. Here were my Obamacare quotes for 2018.

Silver plan...6K deductible $798/mo. premium

Bronze plan...7.5k deductible $576/mo. premium

I believe both were 80/20. But I believe some people were telling me they were pricing Bronze plans were/are 60/40.

To put things into context...Pre Obamacare I had a high deductible/catastrophic plan with a deductible of $7500 but monthly premiums of only $120 per month. Those were the days.

Bottom line...I can't afford this crap. I didn't buy health insurance last year and I won't buy it again this year. This isn't insurance.

I truly believe this is Obamacares last year. The only people buying insurance in the individual market will be those getting a subsidy. For everybody else insurance will be too expensive and they will be priced out. Just a matter of time.

I'm a physician and quit practicing in 2016 largely because of Obamacare. One of the jobs I looked at in 2015 payroll deducted 1800 a month for health insurance coverage for myself, my wife, and my son. There was a 10,000 a year deductible. Most of the other positions were 1099 positions with no benefits.

The only people doing better under Obamacare than before it are Medicaid recipients. The law is a disaster and the failure of the GOP congress to repeal it completely will be a treasonous stain on their legacy.

I pay about $16,000 a year with a $6000 deductible. I was paying $4800 in 2008.

Obamacare was a way to throw billions at providers and insurance companies--all of which have seen their profits explode since ACA passed.

Want to know how naive democrats are? When they passed ACA they told the rank and file they were going to cap insurance company profits at something like 10%. They bough itt. They thought they were really screwing insurance companies. How stupid!

ACA made existing customers of insurance companies pay more and buy more coverage like preventative care and made people buy insurance. The sales of these companies exploded. The idiots that thought the insurance companies were being screwed never understood that 10% of X in 2008 was nothing compared to 10% of X in 2016.

I went from having a “Cadillac” 100% employer paid plan. That I lost right before I lost my Dr.

“If you like your plan, you can keep your plan” “If you like your Dr.................”

To a 1200 a month plan that I can’t really afford to use because of the high deductible.

Luckily my wife works for the Catholic Diocese and starting tomorrow we will be paying less than half for 4x the coverage for our new plan.

Obamacare was a complete failure for me. I have yet to meet anyone that says ACA benefited them in anyway.

It was basically a 13 thousand dollar a year tax on me.

No. He should have been able to keep his old plan like he was promised.

My scenario last year was very similar to the stories here. Here are the comments I got from two pro ACA commies when i asked why it was fair that in picking winners and losers, my family had to be a loser in the bill.

quote:

This isn’t about you!

and

quote:

Because of the white male privilege you have benefited from

And from r/politics when I tried to teach the teens there what it was like pre ACA. Yes, pre existing conditions sucked when you were denied, but it’s insurance. Same as wrecking your car and asking your new car insurance company to pay for the damage.

That’s why we were taught to get a good job with benefits and to always stay covered.

quote:

Then you were taught wrong. Seriously, living is now a privilege only for those with a good enough job?!?

I’m so sick of “white privilege” bull shite.

ACA fricked my black neighbors as bad it fricked me.

Requiring people to pay mortgage sized premiums for health insurance because law makers were in too much of a hurry to pass a bill without reading it just to chalk up a “win” was criminal.

It is indeed terrible for small companies trying to hire workers with families to support. Puts them at a huge disadvantage against the bigger corporations. Really kills the american dream.

Personally I believe any member of congress past or present who voted for the ACA, the president who signed it, and the SCOTUS justices who upheld it should all be placed in front of a firing squad.

And the irony/sad but funny thing is watching the liberals melt over tax cuts.

I signed up for ObamaCare early in its tenure.

I was making just $32K a year and had to pay $270 a month in health care.

Years before the Obamacare conception I was paying just $70 a month.

As you can guess, I am not a fan.

Are there people out there who are paying just $19 a month as noted in the commercials?

Anyone in the US getting it for free?
