They reach for the fear script. “Unknown territory.” “Threat level highest it’s ever been.” Anything to avoid admitting the obvious: a lot of very powerful people just lost one of their favorite shadows, and they’re terrified of what happens when the lights start coming on.

The Blob can cry about democracy all it wants. The rest of us noticed who started hyperventilating the second their unaccountable little kingdom got slightly less unaccountable.
