Congress has just three days to “save” FISA (the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act), so sayeth the proponents of the surveillance state.

More specifically, Section 702 of FISA is set to die at midnight Friday. While opponents of the congressional license to spy on Americans would gladly dance on Section 702’s grave, some say the so-called “must-pass” legislation could save the SAVE America Act — the critical election integrity package that most Americans love and Democrats loathe.

The Election Transparency Initiative, a national advocate for election integrity, is calling on Congress to attach the legislation to the FISA Reauthorization.

We shouldn’t be passing FISA regardless.

So you want Johnson to go against Thune?

They are one and the same. Only difference is Thune is taller. They work for the same organization.

FISA shouldn't be a thing. Over 10,000 different government "contractors " have access to invade the privacy of US citizens at will.
Doing away with it wouldn't hinder the US's ability to track or investigate terrorists/criminals. I don't believe warrantless searches would make it thru a SCOTUS challenge.

The very idea that FISA is something that the Senate could be held hostage over is sickening.

And Mike Johnson's 180 on FISA is one of the biggest policy switches I've ever seen in politics. He went from being an adamant opponent of it, to proudly proclaiming is was a crucial thing for America - basically overnight.
