I had to look it up and I was wrong. I was wondering if the phrase dated back to prohibition era shenanigans but it doesn't. An air barrel: a hustler walks into the pool hall and has 100 dollars. He is playing 20 dollar sets. So he has 5 barrels (ammunition in a firearm). Once he is tapped he is playing on air. An air barrel. If he wins, he pockets the money. if he loses, he runs out the door.
Funny though that she turned this into a literal thing.

Look for her to run the winery equivalent of selling the ghost next. Her next move should be to ensure investors she has hired the finest oenologist from France to come in and take over her operation to solicit investments for something that will never actually materialize.
