Notable because the homeowner, Kevin Brown, is a former MLB pitcher.

Wonder what would have happened and the charges that may have followed if either thief had simply walked away and Kevin Brown had shot at them.

I admire Mr. Brown for defending his property.

Reckless endangerment more than likely.

If a criminal that you confront turns and runs away, in this bizarro world we have to concede that we didn't "catch them" = no punishment.

This is precisely the reason you need to chamber a round and have the safety OFF before confronting such a POS.......see 'em, shoot 'em; problem solved.

The local LEO said he didn't know what charges they would face. This is a federal charge, not local.

Eminent danger to life. That's what you have to be preventing.

Wrong, the bar is actually a bit lower. "Forcible felony" is actually the most common standard.

Forcible entry can be viewed as eminent danger to life.

Can be but "eminent danger to life" is still not the standard.
