Are there any good historical examples of regressive civilizations? I'm not talking about phenomenons like Hitler or modern-day Islam and such, more so technological regression.

There's probably a pretty good case to be made that most of Western Europe regressed significantly after both the Crisis of the Third Century starting in the 230s and then again after the Hunnic and Germanic invasions in the mid- to late-400s AD. There was industry, art, technology, and so forth that those places wouldn't see again for 1,000 years. There was a Roman mining operation in Spain that historians believe wasn't equaled in production and capacity for at least another 1,500 years, for instance.
The Mongol sack of Baghdad in 1258 set that region of the world back hundreds of years as well.

happened many times..
All of the ancient civilizations declined virtually into the stone age, Europe, China, virtually every civilization that achieved some level of technological progress lost it eventually...that is really more then norm than the exception..
and yes, we are on that path
While it seems most collapse through militaristic invasions, we are collapsing through immigration invasions of Europe and the USA and generally discarding the values that western civilization was built on.

The best example, in my opinion, was the Visigoths. During their siege of Rome, they destroyed the aquaducts supplying the city with water. After conquering the city and slaughtering people, there was no one left who knew how to repair the aquaducts. Without that source pf water, the city's remaining freshwater supply could only support 1% of the population it had prior to the siege. In the span of a century, Rome's population dropped from 1 million people (already only half as populous as its peak prior to the capital moving to Constantinople) to only around 10,000. There simply weren't enough knowledgeable people or resources left to maintain the infrastructure anymore, and no standing army or security force to protect traders and travelors on the roads or keep the open.

A great example. And, fast forwarding to the early 1500's, almost all of the aqueducts remained in disrepair. I believe it was Pope Julius 2 that had a new one built that delivered water to St Peter's square. Before that most of Rome had reverted to getting water from the Tiber. An entire civilization, it seems, had backpedaled a thousand years.
