It's certainly poorly written but she is in no way is claiming that 1984 is about faith in government. She is arguing that the authoritarian tactics used by the government in 1984 were used by Trump's campaign.

And, for the record, I despise Hillary Clinton.

It is the authority but she did not claim that 1984 is about the importance of trusting authority.

It's a horrible analogy. It's just not what is being claimed in the OP.
