They’d be completely destroyed if we wanted to do it for whatever reason.
We possess the capability to destroy the entire world several times over if we wanted to, but that results in unacceptable losses. Destroying Iran by conventional means would also result in unacceptable losses - namely, global commerce.

Are we the ones being attacked?
No, but at this moment, it looks like we are negotiating with a country that we could supposedly destroy whenever we want to return to the status-quo, or something close.

I’m seeing the same people crying on this board about Trump threatening to bomb Iran into oblivion for no reason at all…..and are now bitching about Trump chickening out and that now Iran is going to be super powerful.
Just help me make it make sense. I just don’t see how both can be true at the same time but I’m willing to listen.
I've been asking the same stuff for two days.
Started my own thread about it today.

Which means we are not doing the same thing Iran is doing as you asked earlier.

HOW IT STARTED: Strait of Hormuz was open, and Iran was not attacking Americans
Trump attacks a country that was no threat to the USA
MAkes some stuff go boom
Kills some key people and a bunch of civilians
Soldiers die
HOW IT'S GOING: Negotiated Strait of Hormuz open, and asked Iran to stop attacking Americans
WE WON!!!!!!!
right?

But they know if we followed through on such a threat we lose whatever moral authority we have.
You’re really reaching for a point there.

You think we're in control and hold all the cards. We don't.
Because of “muh moral authority”?
We do hold all of the cards.
If we wanted to keep bombing them….we would and there is nothing Iran can do to stop it.
If we did want to put 100,000 marines in their soil……we would and there is nothing Iran can do about it.

If the fact that they could have withstood what we gave them for a month and still come to the negotiating table with a far better outcome than what most would have given them at the beginning, how in the frick is that not resiliency?

Yep. Iran. Never been a threat to the USA whatsoever….at any time.
Posted on 4/7/26 at 8:47 pm to pankReb
The USA is demonstrably a much bigger threat to Iran than Iran to the USA.

Yep. Iran. Never been a threat to the USA whatsoever….at any time.
Yup

You’re continuing to disprove your own point.

There currently isn’t an outcome because they’re still negotiating.

Because they are fricking morons. They bitched less with Obama and Biden in the WH.

So we should also attack Spain or Japan?
They were once threats to the USA
They were once threats to the USA

You’re really desperately reaching.

That's fair. Perhaps I should say that it is obvious that the USA is much more likely to take preemptive action against Iran than Iran to the USA, whereas Iran is able to effectively hold world markets hostage when they feel provoked. Maybe they didn't have that capability before and we missed the window.

And we can effectively bomb them to undo said action.

Well bad logic is still logic so carry on.
