Seriously, what is stopping Republicans from replacing the ACA with a better system??
Health insurance and pharma lobby. The entities that were gifted billions through Obamacare.

What’s stopping support of doing so from the left since the current crying is over “affordability”??

Yea, while they are in DC getting chewed out, they can drop off their campaign donations and lobbying checks in person, and nothing will change.

All health insurance does is justify exorbitant increases in prices for things. Medicare is basically the same.
When there's a huge pot of money available, everyone wants a piece of the action. And they will devise a lot of clever ways to get more of it.

We should eliminate private health insurance companies because they prioritize profit over patient care. Then we should stop letting the pharmaceuticals write future healthcare laws. We should then study healthcare systems around the world to gain a good understanding of what works and what doesn't. If a universal healthcare system is implemented, then the taxpayers receive priority. Whatever we do has to be better than this.

There is an endless amount of objective data showing universal healthcare is a disaster, it’s why wealthy people come from all over the world to get service here. In Canada and Britain they just let you die.

My aunt lives in Britain and loves their healthcare system. She says the medicine actually works; she has never had to wait for a medical procedure, nor has she had to worry about being denied anything. She said it is vastly better than back in the States.

It was an enlightening day when we realized that paying a concierge doctor is cheaper for us than going to a GP.
Really? Interesting.

But you will believe the health insurance companies that tell you universal care is the boogeyman. If it were that terrible, why would the rest of the civilized world prefer it?

Universal healthcare is not the utopian idea you have been misled to believe it is. As bad as our system is, it could be worse.

Lots of countries have health insurance companies and universal coverage. They don't want you to know that such things are compatible because it's less profitable for them, but it exists.

There are no healthcare utopias, and ours could definitely be worse. It has a lot going for it, but it's far too expensive and tries to convince people it'll control costs by limiting access for other people you don't like it instead of addressing more important issues.

I wasn't being sarcastic. If you can tell me what kind of system you think they should replace it with, I might be able to tell you why they won't.

Sure.
Canada, for example. You get care on the taxpayer's dime (if you can wait for it, that is), but not drugs. They have health insurance primarily for their pharmaceuticals.
So they pay twice. Once in taxes and once in private health insurance (although I doubt their private HI is anywhere near as expensive as ours).

Because the US makes it possible for them.
We pay premium drug prices because we protect the intellectual property of pharmaceutical companies; other countries don't. So our drug prices are far higher than they would be if the pharma companies were able to make the same revenue on higher volume.
We conduct a little over 90% of the medical R&D in the whole world. Because we have a for-profit system and they don't. They benefit from our R&D, so it's a lot cheaper for them to keep up.
