Anyone know any details on this bill? I had heard it passed but haven’t seen any other details regarding that.
It’s apparently a bill to provide state funds to all students, regardless if they attended public school or private.
Also gives the parents/ students an option of which public school to attend.
Which, it’s about time. If the tax funded government cannot provide an adequate public education, either give me my taxes back or give my child the same credit you would give them to attend public school or another public school.

I don't think you have the instrument number right. HB 98 is a marriage bill by Mandie Landry.

Whatever this is, I think it would be getting a lot more coverage if it did what you are saying (and were passed).

I read the bill and for the first 4 years only ppl that qualify are the ones who's kid went to public school the year before. Year 5 is when it will kick in for any kids who already attend private school and went to private school previous.

It doesn't work that way. Politicians look at private school tuition the same way they look at taxes. It doesn't matter how hard you work or sacrifice to be able send your kids to private school. It doesn't matter whether you are a blue collar laborer or white collar executive, you are considered "priveleged". And even though you continue to fund the public education of other people's kids and the federal government though higher tax rates, the liberals will always lecture the American people about how you aren't paying your fair share.

That bill died in the Senate, and had a fiscal note, so can't be heard in a non-fiscal session like this years.
