Congress isn't passing these tariffs bro. The President has the power to do so if it revolves around a national security threat. And it seems like you can pretty much justify any tariff that way. I mean, Canada?

Harley is just completing the circle.
Their previous owners corprate office nearly destroyed the company leading to the employee buyout, now the employees/owners doing the same thing with this PR fiasco.
It is all about greed and has jack shite to do with tarriffs or suppliers, they are going overseas for the same reason everyone else has, maximum shareholder ROI.
They were just to dumb to pass up the opurtunity to take a jab at Trump on the way as they are not used to politicians fighting back.

Harley has been going down the drain for a long time, because they have been unable to draw interest from any other market beside the aging boomer demo.

tariffs will just make our cost of living rise.

There are hundreds of HD dealers across the nation this morning that are shitting their pants.
The combination of an icon like HD being made in Thailand and now HD's spin is not going to sell motorcycles. Also, the fact HD is not planning to bump up prices to accommodate the tariff tells you that company is making huge money on the mark-up of bikes sold domestically.
By the end of the week I expect Indian Motorcycles and perhaps Honda as well to make a play and take advantage of this.
RIP Harley

I get what you’re saying but the EU, Canada, Japan, etc have pretty similar tariffs compared to the US. You can cherry pick certain industries to point out discrepancies, but when you look at trade on a macro level, we have a good trade relationship with those nations. China is another story.
It just seems like we’re using China as rationalization to implement an all out trade war against our allies with very little evidence of bad policy. It’s just one or two cherry picked examples followed by us throwing blanket tariffs at them.

The only impact the tariffs will have is on Harley’s sold abroad...not in the US....other than maybe buying domestic steel.
If Harley had a brain they’d have waved the flag and said they’re supporting the American worker and paying more by only buying US material. People would eat it up.
Yeti proved Americans aren’t afraid to spend money on overpriced goods if you market it right.
But this is beside the point - all of this is political posturing to get better terms from our partners. Trump told Harley to “be patient” ... that’s a pretty strong tell.
The fact is if these companies would rally behind this publicly these foreign leaders would capitulate.

ble whammy from Trump's policies cheap imports are what has given us the quality of life that we have at a pretty low cost. instead of using tariffs to try and make US industries competitive why not remove the regulations that keep them from being competitive on their own?
That’ll work also....let’s do away with building codes and zoning ordinances so folks can live in cardboard shacks with no plumbing like they do in third world countries. Let’s eliminate all environmental regulations so we can just dump garbage and hazardous waste wherever it’s convenient like they do in these competitive countries. Let’s just race to the lowest common denominator....that’s what unregulated capitalism looks like. Let’s do away with the biggest regulation keeping American companies and workers from competing on a level playing field....taxes....taxes that are used to provide safe passage and secure markets for all of those cheap products that we import that provide us with our quality of life.
There is always more than one way to skin a cat. If we are going to continue to make certain the globe is relatively safe, that commerce is viable across borders and oceans....Hell, if we are going to make certain that oil is available to anyone with the market price then we should also look after ourselves in the process. We can’t have millions of people losing their homes while we are in the middle of 2 wars that are being waged to keep the oil spigots open without some blowback. If it is a race to the bottom that the right is after so we can compete let’s fricking do it....eliminate all regulations, some of them, whatever.....but when rivers are catching fire and the sides of the road look like Haiti and folks are shitting in trenches in the middle of the road don’t whine about it.....that’s what people in countries where shite is made cheaply do...why not us?

Well it sucks!
Once again a business enters politics when it shouldn’t and doesn’t have to!
HD announced plans for more foreign assembly plants long ago. They faced little push back and none from Trump.
Then they join the latest DNC/MSM Political Complex Trump-hate talking points of Muh tariffs. Trump counterpunches and now they’re in DEEEEEEP shite from their American customers who massively support Trump! Stupid!
Just the facts.

No, he was upset with them because they just caved in negotiations....he was fighting for them...
and it's true, a Harley built over seas is absolute embarrassment
