March was 7.9%

I think we skip the 8s and go straight to 9.0.

350%.

Seriously though, inflation sucks but I think they are overselling it to say “Yay, we sucked less than we expected!”

I'll go 12, just because they will low ball it.

That’s just the official version. I’m sure it’s much more than that.

Yeah the real numbers are always more.

A few days ago someone on a thread said groceries were up 10% from last year.

I wanna know where that guy shops so I can go there.

FFS maybe 10% in the last quarter.

This is about to be a bait and switch, just like the jobs numbers a few months ago.

Not saying that inflation is getting better. I’m saying it’s going to be reported on as getting better. They’re about to manufacture a win.

Gas alone is up over 10% from. February to present. If that isn’t affecting food costs yet, it will spike then soon.

I read something on here that they do not count food or gas in the equation...otherwise its about 18%

I’m sorry, but I have to think the actual inflation rate is closer to 10

The numbers are BS; using the metric from decades ago we would probably be over 15%.
One of the only products that seems normal is big screen TV's. The products that you need like food and fuel have gone up more than 8%. Another tactic companies use is changing the packaging and portions.

They break the numbers down in all sorts of ways, but generally if they are excluding food and energy the Dept of Labor spokesperson will say it. A President's press secretary, however, might well try to sneak it by the press if it's truly horrible.

Once the food shortages start, inflation will be referred to as the "good ol' days."
