Growth portrayed as ‘progress’. Progress towards what?

A new, generic, vinyl tract home development comes to your town.
‘You can’t stop progress.’
Progress towards what?
Does it mean your town now has enough people that it might get an Applebees? Is that progress?

I will gladly take vinyl tract home subdivisions over rv and trailer parks, and apartment complexes. To me, that is progress.

Progress would be a towns ability to vote no to section 8 housing within the town limits.

Meh.... you think too much, iver complicate things. IMHO
You should be beyond grateful that this is a "problem " you contemplate.
Things could be much much worse.
This is a major issue in our nation.
All the good times have produced soft people. IMHO

You better shut your mouth and be happy for your new strip malls, section 8 apartments, flooding, and constant traffic.
Courtesy of just about every town and parish government in the state!
Lord knows St. Tammany can't get enough taxes.

But what I don’t get is that the elected officials and planning commissions presumably live in the towns too. They are fine with rampant growth simply for tax and water revenue? Or they are getting bribed by someone?
I’m not arguing. I genuinely don’t understand it,

They, family or friends probably own all the land that is being developed.
Look into that first.

All these folks shilling for DSLD/DR Horton type developments in the name of "jerbs" and "progress." What's going to happen when the newness wears of of these poorly constructed houses and they become crime-infested rental slums? I'm looking at you, St. Tammany Parish.
