It sounds just like some neocon Project For A New American Century full spectrum dominance BS. It's said that MAGA turned to this.

I think the issue is that if this was about energy, then nuclear weapons and narco terror were a lie.

This. For better or worse, in terms of foreign relations we are now the Roman Empire. That means, if it's good for us to take it and we can...we will.

To lie about our concern for law, alliances, treaties, etc. is embarrassing.

That doesn’t make sense as an if/then. It could be mostly about energy but also about nukes and terrorism.

Iran being a sponsor of terrorism is also a reason you don't want those religious nuts having a nuke. It goes hand in hand.

But our long standing interest in the middle east is about energy.

Democrats will find a way, like with Uranium One, to frick the US they claim to represent. Just like BidenAutoPen temporarily killing oil exploration on the coasts of the US, KeystoneXL, etc.

Completely off topic, but I just had a Deja Vu moment as I opened this thread. It literally has nothing to do with this thread, bit I still find it unsettling how they can completely throw a person off.

I think Greenland is more of access to the North Pole for defense.

If it has oil, it’s going to be expensive to get and ship out.

Thule has been operational since 1946. The G-I-UK gap (Greenland, Iceland, UK) is how we've tracked Russian/USSR subs and the Northern Fleet at large for decades. ~40 subs, 30+ surface combatants, including Polyarny (featured in Hunting Red October.) To get to open sea without transiting under the polar ice, they have to go through the GIUK gap. If they're surface ships, they don't have a choice most of the year.

It's about "rare" earths, which aren't actually rare. Reference China's belt and road, except we're not communists about it. Better us than them.

It rare earths are found under a 1000 meter blanket of ice, it will be so expensive to get.

I really just want it for the melts.
