Most of those fired wouldn't be voting for him anyway

I’ve been in and around the federal government for the last 16 years (started off in private sector), the last three of which of been in Washington DC. Had you asked me two years ago who most federal workers supported, I would’ve told you they had a slightly Republican lean, but we’re generally apolitical.

Federal workers are split about the same as the general population. About half of those laid off probably voted for Trump.

As I said, federal employees are represented by both sides of the aisle and vote both ways.

Laid off workers by Congressional district

The Democrats likely aren’t switching sides after this. The Republicans that have been sent home? Who knows.

That’s a long shot anyway, so what does he have to lose? If he’s going down, I guess he feels he might as well take the whole country with him. If the last few years have proven anything, it’s that Trump is a bad person.

I haven't been involved in a federal case, haven't been to tax court, haven't toured the Smithsonian, and I haven't visited a national park.

I didn't say the shutdown affected you. I responded to post implying there weren't any effects for anyone.

And you really should visit some national parks, they're quite nice.

This is the biggest impact I've seen. We love camping on the beach, but the park right down the road you can camp on is obviously closed.

The blog's author doesn't have a clue about federal rules and regulations.

Twenty years ago most illegals entered the U.S. via the Rio Grande. Today the problem is overstays. Overstays arrive mostly by air and legally thru ports such as Louis Armstrong Airport.
Most of our immigration issue can be solve by closing loopholes and enforcement of our present laws.

News flash, most of his base work in the private sector, hate government, and the establishment. I voted for him and this would fire me up and make me love this man even more.

Yes, but on this board we're supposed to believe that only the border with Mexico is relevant and so a big beautiful wall will solve everything.

From 3 threads down:

quote:

Immigrants from all countries: 11,780,000
Immigrants from Mexico: 6,980,000
Percentage of immigrants from Mexico: 59.2%

If these numbers are to be believed they aren’t coming through the air.

Btw we were being told in the mid 1990’s there were 11 million Illegal Immigrants in our country. Kinda makes these numbers well.... not believable.

The majority of Illegal Immigrants are coming from two places:

Mexico and Central America. Those folks aren’t coming in airports or airplanes

You loons on the left, the MSM, Democrats, and some republicans have been hammering our wonderful president since he took office. If he goes scorched earth, you can all blame yourselves. If y’all would have only accepted the election results we could have moved forward peacefully. Trump doesn’t lay down like the spineless republicans in the past and this is what scares the left. Y’all started it so Take your medicine.
