Good thing the Republicans won the house despite them being wet dicks. Gridlock and no stupid new laws is good.
Whatever majority they end with is not going to be enough to block stupid laws. There are enough Mitch type dick suckers to side with the Dims

Not if it is a Constitutional issue, as determined in Obergefell.
The Supreme Court decides a lot of stuff incorrectly.
Marriage should not be a government issue at all, but so long as it is, states should have the right to regulate it how they choose. Just as with abortion.

They had the same rights as anyone before gay marriage. They chose not to exercise them.
A man had the ‘right’ to marry a woman.
A woman had the ‘right’ to marry a man
Nowhere did it say people had a right to marry for ‘love’.
I’m not picking on you, but the inability or unwillingness for people to think deeper and logically is the real death knell for the Right side of the political spectrum,

It ain't, so I don't.

The government has no business being involved with marriage at all.

There should be no laws governing marriage. Its one of those nanny issues.
All marriage should be encouraged.

Those are all contractual issues. You have to start with the big piece (marriage) and work down from there. It's a long road and it will require baby steps.

And white men had the 'right' to marry a white woman, but not a black woman in 31 states in the 1960s until the Supreme Court ruled in Loving v Virginia that laws like that were unconstitutional.

Childish....do better or stop complaining about the lack of decorum on the board.
No wonder there are so few women on the board.

The Government should not be in the "marriage" business. As a Christian, I firmly believe that Biblical "marriage" is inteded to be between a man and a women; however, "Christians" have virtually ruined it with their love of divorce.
I love my current preacher and believe he and his family live what he preaches, but he overemphasizes the sin of homosexuality (something Jesus did not directly address) and never mentions divorce (something Jesus DID directly address). [I won't mention where I disagree with him on alcohol.]
But, as long as the government is in the marriage business, what does it matter if two adults create a binding contract in order for them to share assets and make decisions for each other? I would prefer gays have a "domestic union" with the same rights as marriage, but, we all know that would not be sufficient for the radicals.
As long as it would hold up in the Constitution, I think it would be a good idea to "codify" same-sex marriage as a sign of supporting individual rights (especially considering President Trump was the first president elected who supported gay marriage).

they need to, for the sake of the repulican party they need to. If this goes back to the states GOP states will pass laws that dont allow for gay marraige. Then the GOP will loose every national election for the next 10yrs. You thought aboartion turned out the vote..

Republicans should go for all conservatives. Gay, black, hispanic...don't matter.
Support them and give them a reason to vote.
Any gay men who loathe the current tranny fad are ok with me. They are probably tired of those people hijacking their group.

“Gay marriage” isn’t marriage.
Marriage is good for society because it provides a building block for society. No-fault divorce is shite for society because it’s largely destructive. Over 40% of gay relationships are “open” relationships. Homosexuals cannot naturally procreate.
We can keep pretending there’s no natural law. But it’s still there.

Long term legal commitments are fantastic for society as they provide stability.
I really can't understand people wanting unbridled hedonism over stability.
