It’s stupid to panic over these results in heavily blue states.

Bottom line is Republicans need to get out and vote for the midterms like they did for Trump.

It was a bad move due to northern VA being home to numerous feds… gop didn’t have a prayer in a state they were close to flipping in the last fed election

It's bigger than that. The GOP, Inc. is woefully blind to the fact that their voters (and Independents that typically swing the vote), don't show out for Local and Mid-Term elections. I see it every vote in my State (and I live in the "Reddest" state in the Union). The GOP does a PISS POOR job at educating and motivating their voting base to mobilize to vote. They spend ZERO dollar on it too. The GOP as a party, is going to die out and they're too stupid to realize why. Especially after Trump is out of office.

Look. I'm a right wing dude and I am registered R (and have been since I turned 18), but I'm one dude, that does (or did) show up for those local elections and mid-terms when everone else registered R wasn't. Kinda tired of carrying the water and watching Dems win Local and Mid-Term elections because my fellow R voters don't show up. I don't care anymore, because the GOP, Inc and the majority of it's voting base doesn't give a shite to get out and vote.

Then why should I?

This issue is a festering wound the GOP doesn't know exists or cares to treat. It's a big reason I've become very disenfranchise with the GOP. (I hate both parties btw, the Democrats are the party of the mentally insane and suicidal empathetic.)

We're not voting our way out of this mess. So...

Enjoy the Decline! It's only gonna get worse before it gets better.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, this has not and will never happen with the normie GOP voter (or independents for that matter). They never show up for local and mid-term elections. It's par for the course.

This is also a different environment than we’ve seen since the 50’s. And the president won the popular vote.

Turnout was so high bc enthusiasm and motivation were extremely high. That can be rallied again with effort.

No matter what, you simply cannot judge further midterm results based on local elections in blue states. This is a major overreaction.

Good lord, you people cry too much. Up until today the last 12 months have been about the withering appeal of the democrat party. Now, after a win by democrats in blue states the GOP is doomed? None of these races were really in doubt. If you thought Va, NJ and NYC were going anything but left, you were deluding yourself.

The GOP don't know how to win if Trump is not on the Ticket.

Trump doesn't know how to win while in power.

This fact. His party has lost every election while he is in office.

MAGA baws don't care. They'll slink back to their suburban life once he's gone thinking they can ride out the storm. Just like a lot of people did when Lenin took over.

The GOP better get its shite together and realize that the midterms are a year away. I fear they'll keep chasing shadows.

I'd almost be willing to bet that it's not. I've seen this silly trend in Oklahoma... GOP voters don't show out for locals and midterms. Problem is, it's so watered down because of how lopsided it is here, so people think they don't need to show up to vote. But in the 2 major cities here, they're turned bluer and more and more leftists are getting into office at all levels.

Hubris is going to be the downfall of any party that doesn't take all phases of voting seriously. To be honest, the Democrats have a more motivated voting base and they show out for locals and mid-terms. It's just the truth. I wish it wasn't the truth, but it is.

bullshite.

Pubs need to hold strong on this and paint the Dems with the repercussions.

Current spending is bad enough. We CANNOT afford to do what the Dems want.

The shutdown was always about getting their base fired up and generating news narratives that would spell death to the GOP on Election day. Same thing in 2019 with the riots and protest before the POTUS election.

The GOP don't seem to have figured out a counter to this.

Trump needs to shift gears and get back to what he ran on over what he has been doing.

This is actually only a recent MAGA phenomenon. The inverse used to hold true during say the Obama era. Traditional conservatives at that time were more engaged, whereas the libs were always lazy fricks. Now their share has died off or become less of a factor. As the GOP base has shifted more MAGA, almost by definition, it’s makeup consists of more low-propensity voters. That is what is pretty worrisome in a post Trump era.

That's the unfortunate part. VA isn't deep blue. NOVA and Richmond are deep blue. The rest of the state is red and just gets to suffer. Similar to IL and Chicago.

I bet you none of these governors for VA ever go remotely close to the I-81 corridor. As far as they're concerned politically, VA ends 50 miles west of I-95. The I-95 corridor and Norfolk is all they care about.
