This search yields 15 results on the first page for me.

The first 14 cover how Eric was wrongfully killed by police and/or how terrible it is that no charges were brought against the officers.

Yet...not 1 article describing Garner’s criminal history.

Conversely, the same search in DuckDuckGo returns 10 results on the first page with the first 9 actually covering Garner’s past.

I just found this interesting.

Who cares about his criminal history at this point? The fact is they killed him. Plain and simple.

He was obese and had an asthma attack while resisting arrest in the commission of a crime, he was a career criminal.

You are correct. That other stuff is irrelevant

Is it possible for a person to think that the police were wrong but they still would like to look into his criminal history? Why can't Google just provide the service the purport to?

Exactly

If he hadn't been in poor health, on top of resisting, he would be alive.
It's his own fault.

Shouldn’t the declaration of relevance be left up to the searching party?

Considering how a search of that sort would work, it seems nearly impossible to imagine it giving you "only" history arrest record.

If the police officers hadn’t killed him, he would also be alive.

He was selling loose cigarettes. Wasn't that the justification for the stop? Limiting government requires these nanny state type of laws that result in increased police encounters to end.

I’m sure the Information Officer wanted it to be relevant. That’s why they publicized it so heavily.
