Honestly, I think he'd get more support if he'd focus more on the economics than crime. Both are important, but make the argument that we can't be a welfare state for the rest of the world, though we sympathize for those looking for a better life and coming here. However we already have humanitarian crisis with poor and homeless in our country that need fixing, and we seem to be putting non-citizens needs before our own citizens (many veterans).
If this is such a huge humanitarian crisis, then other prosperous countries should offer to help. The burden shouldn't fall all on us. But since none of them are helping, the wall must go up.

exactly. and the fall back position is not crime! Although it is significant, more than Dems admit to, almost all of them engage in fraud once arriving by using falsified documents. the cost for government services, the crime etc.
It's not even the main issue, the main issue is the sovereignty of the country, having control of who immigrates. I do not understand why he cannot articulate this, but worse, he is the only one even making a pass at it.

You are right they should have done a much better job laying out the issues. Whether it is him or Nielsen as Homeland Security Secretary. Something.
If he was attempting to make it look like a normal thing declaring it didn’t come across very good.

I think he meant he was signing the National Emergency order.
