I dunno man. Maybe my POV was slanted due to only experiencing it from the artist POV via my sister and her friends, but it was incredibly leftist. One summer we stayed at her place and it didn't even have A/C

Austin of the 90s and 00s was pretty liberal, but not as liberal as the (extremely loud and obnoxious) leftist minority would have you think. there was still a solid conservative majority of grown-ups.

these days it's more like Portland where the 30-something and up conservative bedrock (that the leftist minority unknowingly was relying on for their lovely, clean, safe little liberal utopia) has finally been overwhelmed.

Who the frick wants to be a police officer and make the same salary that a teacher would?

the myth that defunding police is good is only outdone by the lie that teachers are under paid, teachers arent getting rich by any standard, but they are highly overpaid for what they do

Austin has been taken over by pacific coast progtards from LA to Seattle. So yes, they did vote for this like they have done in most west coast cities.

You aren’t giving Louisiana leftists that moved to Austin to “flip Texas blue” enough credit

Went there this year. Incredibly nice, safe city. Police chief is a pussy and a liar.

You think Abbot is in charge of the Austin City police? Good Lord.

He can take it over if he wanted to. They talked about doing it back in 2020 but never did it. It's the state capital and he has pretty broad authority to protect it. But they procrastinated and now have bigger issues like the border, HISD, etc.

Small government combined with union busting. Sounds like a Republican paradise.

No matter what it sounds like to a radical leftist, all this in Austin was made possible by radical leftists.

Weirdos.

The lack of a police force capable of serving the community.

I though that was what we were talking about, weirdo.

Again, their crime rate is still not high. Austin has one of the lowest violent crime rates of any metro area in the US.
