The way I view our government has changed, that’s the difference. During the invasion of Kuwait, I thought our mission was noble, to defend democracy (sounds familiar?), and our government had good intentions. I don’t believe our current government has good intentions with Ukraine nor is the mission “noble”. I don’t see how either party, Russia or Ukraine, is innocent and I believe the US’s actions in the past decade have contributed to this mess.

The line between hypocrisy and learning from your mistakes rests entirely in the eye of the beholder.

Very difficult to do considering the Japanese attacked Hawaii and invaded the U.S. territories of the Philippines, Guam, and Wake Island.

Man I was in middle school in '90.
But I remember I thought we should've supported it because the talking box told me Saddam was bad.
In hindsight and with age, wisdom, perception and knowledge, we created the monster that Saddam became and catalyzed that entire situation just the same way we created the situation in Ukraine that ultimately provoked Russia into making their move.
Saddam was a ruthless and cruel tyrant who executed his dissidents and caused major strife with Kuwait, Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and even Egypt...
But... Being who he was and moreso how he was, was also a great stabilizing force in the entire region. The ME has been a fricking circus since time immemorium, but look exactly how much disaster has occurred ever since the Western world tried to make it our goal to "liberate" the region. Western ideology and that region are just not compatible, and the world will be a better place when we just accept that. Similarly, their ideology is also not compatible with Western culture. Square peg and round hole and whatnot.

Hindsight is 20/20.
Knowing how things turn out I dont know how anyone could support afghanistan or iraq Pt 2, electric boogaloo.
Imo, those two wars is the catalyst for today’s attitude of - stay the frick out of it. Trillions down the drain, not to mention the lives lost.

And yes I know it was to for him to fight Iran. But we still created our own problem.
And also in Afghanistan.
