This is a fallacy. No one is trying to steal your rights and no one is willing to give them up. When this is over, the bill of rights are not going to be legislated out of existence. You people are just being stupid.

Yep. He made it effectively impossible for the average citizen to own an automatic weapon. He would later lend his support to the 1994 AWB.
It would be the modern day equivalent of Trump signing a bill putting all semi-autos on the NFA list and banning any further production of them, then supporting a handgun ban a few years later when out of office.
