Rudy Giuliani pushed for regime change in Iran on Saturday, saying President Donald Trump is “as committed to regime change as we are.”
It's “the only way to peace in the Middle East” and “more important than an Israeli-Palestinian deal,” Giuliani, Trump’s newest attorney in the ongoing Russia probe and a former mayor of New York City, told reporters after giving a speech to the Iran Freedom Convention for Democracy and Human Rights in Washington.

This is perhaps the biggest lie told today in American politics. The Iranians haven't been involved in a war of aggression since the Qajar Dynasty of the 19th century. Their rulers may be fundamentalist nutjobs, but in terms of state violence and aggression, the Saudi's and Israeli's have them beat by miles.

I’m very ignorant when it comes to politics in the Middle East but what was the fundamental difference between how easy going (relatively) the state of Iran was in the 70s than it is today and why wouldn’t we want a regime change that can go back to that?
