Thousands of Georgians took to the streets in protest and politicians came to blows in parliament as governing party legislators gave the initial go-ahead for debate on a bill on “foreign agents” that has been criticized by Western and domestic critics as Russian inspired.

the measure which requires organisations that accept funds from abroad to register as foreign agents or face fines.
quote:
Georgian Dream says the bill is necessary to combat what it calls “pseudo-liberal values” imposed by foreigners and promote transparency.
quote:
The bill has strained relations with European countries and the United States, which oppose its passage. The EU, which gave Georgia candidate status in December, has said the move is incompatible with the bloc’s values.
Why aren't our congressmen fighting?

Where have we seen interference with former bloc countries joining the EU before?

Do you know what is going on in Georgia right now?

I'm interested in the rhetorical styles of people in history. Stalin is an interesting case. He was famous for giving very few speeches. It was because he was ashamed of his accent. He was Georgian. When asked what's wrong with that an expert explained: 'It's considered uneducated hick. Think of an American who grew up in the hills of Tennessee and never got past 5th grade.'

Yea Yea - what's so freaking bad about "requiring organisations that accept funds from abroad to register as foreign agents" ???????

So, in Georgia grown men ... elected officials ... are having fistfights like a group of poorly-raised teenage boys, and you see this as a "good thing?"
