Interesting article worth a read: LINK

Read the whole thing, but to sum it up there’s a generational conflict going on at the Grey Lady and the old guard holding the line on journalistic integrity. The woke young writers are trying to push the paper into being a sjw rag.

This was refreshing though:

quote:

AAs Kahn sees it, there’s no “magic-bullet solution,” and he said the Times is making progress on becoming more responsive to the concerns of a much more multi-textured staff than it had 10 years ago. But in terms of how any single employee may be processing the many difficult ramifications of the current era, there was one thing Kahn held firm on. “If you’re a media company, journalism is not about creating safe spaces for people,” he said. “It’s not about democratically reflecting the consensus of the staff about what we say on certain issues. We’re not crowd-sourcing, from our employees, a collective institutional position on Donald Trump.”

Who do you think is going to win in the end?

We all know.

That's bullshite. The NYT has been a liberal rag since the late 1960's.

I’m sure most disagree but by and large the NYT does a fine job with their reporting. Those that seek confirmation bias and echo chambers will always take issue, and I agree the opinion pieces lean to the left, but the quality of the paper itself is second to none.

For those that see the NYT as a liberal paper point me in the direction of a less bias source.

You’re mistaking long form writing with lack of bias.

And WSJ. Just for starters.

So you’ve got nothing. If they are such a poor paper it should be easy to rattle off several others.

The expression “multi-textured” makes my knuckles itch.

The Times destroyed their reputation in the 2000s, and while I appreciate that the old timers are trying to save the paper, how much is there to save? The writing is poor, and reflects a very insular view of the world.

There aren’t any good papers left.

Knight Ridder, of all things, had then last good shop. Warren Strobels reporting was a good example.

NYT is still the best paper in the world despite the liberal bent......they have really done a stellar job over their history but the SJW bullshite has creeping out.

To the extent they editorialize, I think the Economist is the least biased source of news and reporting on American politics.

Al Jazeera actually is pretty neutral as well as long as the issue doesn't concern Israel or the broader Middle East.

And I don't think the WSJ is any worse at all than the NYT.

I’m a subscriber. They aren’t being CNN but they aren’t exactly hiding their bias.
