Haven't been keeping up with Libya. Did he have any role in current politics there?

Saif had been a moderating voice there.

It was Saif who got Moamar to release political prisoners who returned to lead the rebellion to overthrow the government.

Thanks, Obama and Hillary. Gaddafi had changed his way of thinking and then the two previously mentioned morons came up with Arab spring. Cost us an ambassador, albeit a gay one, in the process.

My fellow Americans:

At 7 o'clock this evening eastern time air and naval forces of the United States launched a series of strikes against the headquarters, terrorist facilities, and military assets that support Mu`ammar Qadhafi's subversive activities.

Never, heard from him again.
