GA Primary Takeaways

My opinions, at least:
- Very excited we held both SC spots. Not just because of the substantive importance, but also just because it sucks living somewhere where your neighbors choose bad people over good people. Jordan and Rankin had tons of institutional support, didn't play by the rules, and took every shortcut to win. That this didn't end up happening is an entirely different sort of win.
- I think there was definitely a motivated D electorate, they just didn't really know what to do with it. The SC race was messy. I think some Ds genuinely didn't like the partisan turn and don't like Jen Jordan, there was some typical incumbent boost, and there was probably some ignorance at play too. But Fulton saw a state court judge and 3 superior court judges lose to challengers. And not in a good way, the challengers are all to the left of the sitting judges.
- KLB winning outright feels like a loss for the Ds, they're mourning it. I'm sure they'll come around and it'll be far more competitive than it is, but we certainly have a reasonable route to keeping the office.
- Ossoff probably feels a little more vulnerable today than yesterday. But I don't think it's a major alarm bell. I think the environment come November will decide that race more than the runoff or any head to head qualities of the candidates. I think the Ds will probably get their voters out. KLB is a mixed bag - I think it might suppress enthusiasm for white Ds in Cobb, etc. but will probably get out the black vote.

Who you got Jones or Jackson?

Ossoff
I would love a list of 5, perhaps even one thing he has done

If KLB is a shite-enough candidate, she could potentially drag down Ossoff with her.

Absolutely, the Democrats really wanted that judgeship and that is a very good omen for November

Thought about that, but the question is whether KLB's engagement of the black vote makes up for it.
Right now, I'm thinking it's sort of a wash.

Of course you don’t think it’s an “alarm bell” lol nothing like a liberal, white male. The uber concentration of dumbasses in Atlanta is the only reason he and the good reverend are senators

An interesting stat I saw this morning. Not only did KLB have her worst performance in the Atlanta area, there was a strong positive correlation between distance from Atlanta and her %.
Come November all of the Ds will coalesce around her and there will be national stories pumping her as the first black governor in the south since Reconstruction, the first black female governor, etc. But I do think some folks in town will remember how she handled the Floyd riots and the Rayshard Brooks case.
Calling APD officers murders and allowing the militant takeover that got Secoriea Turner killed will make for some great negative campaign ads against her.

He and Warcock have been the best for a shitty outcome. They’ve done nothing, which is what you want. Can you imagine the type of shite they’d try to push through if motivated ?

I think the wine moms stay home for Ossoff with Kiesha on the ticket.

He is on the investigations committee.
Unfortunately, that gives him a list of things that he has done. And it has given him facetime on the local news.
The biggest issue that he investigated was the postal service clusterfrick with the new service center that opened. That kept him in the news for almost a year.
I dont like him. But his "list of things done" is actually better than any Georgia Senator going back 25 years.
We havent had someone with significant activities since Coverdel and Nunn.

I can't think of anything, specifically, that he's done wrong. If he wasn't a dem, I'd actually kind of like him.
Now Warnock on the other hand, that guy is hot garbage.

His voting record.

One of Warnock's committees is finance. My brother is a die hard Dem who works Wall Street. He said that Warnock is so far over his head on that committee that he is a running joke to people working in finance. Very similar to Hank Johnson after his Guam comments.
You have to be a shitty democrat for my brother to hate you

So he helped the failing post office for an entire year which is failing even harder now? Gotcha. Sounds like Pete Butttie with transportation - A whopping nothing burger and waste of time and probably hundreds of millions of dollars
