We have an inability to produce cars or just the Ford company does?

The vast majority of Tesla’s part content is produced within the US and Canada. Tesla holds a tie for first place with Honda. The Model 3 Long Range AWD and RWD are in first place alongside the Honda Ridgeline AWD TrailSport, with 75% of their parts being created in North American.
Tesla also ties for second place at 70% with the Model 3 Performance and Model Ys, alongside a good chunk of Honda’s other vehicles.
The Model S and Model X are closely following at 65% and 60% respectively. It is still more than many other auto manufacturers, some of whom are sporting 1% North American part rates.

not correct. The U.S. has REE, just doesn't mine and refine them. Efforts in starting this process in beginning stages.
Brave AI search,
Rare Earth Elements in US
Yes, the United States has rare earth elements. The country has 1.5 million tons in reserves, although it is largely dependent on imports from China for refined rare earths.
The U.S. has identified various mineral occurrences that contain substantial enrichments of rare earth elements, although most of these are unmined locations.
Additionally, there are ongoing efforts to explore and develop domestic sources of rare earth elements, including the potential for extracting them from mining and processing residues, such as those from kaolin mining in Georgia.
Despite these resources, the U.S. still faces challenges in processing and separating rare earth elements, as it lacks the capabilities for the tough task of separating rare earths after extraction.
I suspect the major hold ups are environmental issues.

I'm not sad. American companies have sought out cheap instead of American materials and labor.
And are charging prices as if the parts were sourced in the USA. F150 pricing is up over 39% (according to AI) since 2020.

The EV mandate was always stupid. If there just had to be some mandate it should have been a hybrid mandate.
I've had an EV for two and a half years. It really is a pretty nice vehicle and has given no problems. I am getting to the point now where I need new tires tho.

They also fell for the EV mandate bullshite
The fact that EV vehicles were not selling even with government rebates should have been enough evidence to cut production. But no, these gullible companies continued to produce record numbers of EVs but they are not selling! Now with the rebates stopped, they are really screwed, serves them right for poor decision making!

Well it was more than that to be fair. The government was trying to tell car manufacturers that there would be no more gas powered engines by 2035.
It was all bullshite
It was all bullshite

Ford has to offer huge discounts and zero percent financing on evs or they just sit on the lots. Massive failure, Hybrid technology was always the immediate future. Hell Chevrolet just made a 1250 hp hybrid Corvette that will eat a plaid for lunch.
