Trump was a public persona LONG before he involved himself in politics. It is not odd at all that a professor might rant about his former student to a close friend.

You will intentionally not remember, but some people responded by attacking Cruz's use of "Ted" rather than Rafael or Eduardo.
I defended Cruz in EXACTLY the same way, citing the fact that "Ted" is a common nickname for "Edward" and that Ted adopted it to "fit in" in a predominantly-Anglo private school, just as O'Rourke used "Beto" to "fit in" in a predominantly-Latino environment.
Honestly, I found it sad that so many people who probably do not even KNOW a native Spanish-speaker got so wound-up about nicknames in a border town.

Apparently, you read that question as a request for a hyperlink to a news outlet. I did not read it that way, and I STILL do not read it that way. Apparently, Ooga did not either, because it was YOU (and not him) who started complaining (some time later) about the lack of a link. To the contrary, Ooga's complains thereafter were focused upon whether the DiPrima statement was hearsay, with ZERO complaint about the answer to his question, as I recall.

CNN wrote about the "fricking moron" comment from Tillerson on 2017-10-05, and the DePrimo Op-Ed (referencing that debacle) was published 2017-10-12. Clearly the latter was a response to the former.
