Because there was supposedly other operations going on out of that office. Sending in defensive measures like aircraft would let outsiders know there were important assets there. As I am to understand it wasn't supposed to be a fully "active" location.
TIFWIW, but this ex military guy I know said there was a AC-130 spectre circling over head that was told to bug out when the protests went off...told not to engage.

They were six weeks away from an election. The main reason they continued to lie for years about it was they didn't want it to be a successful terror attack so close to the election, as national security is a weak point for Dems.
While your points are all valid, they knew those details wouldn't come out until the election as over - they were wiling to deal with them in time. But the motivation had to be the anti-Islam youtube video until after the election.

That's infinitely more transparent than the NYT or WaPo who won't release the content of IC leaks and we have to rely on their fake news spin of the leaks.
