It would be quibbling if I said "strong" vs "very strong", so I won't do that.
No question that tribalism is a thing. It is weaker among Presbyterians and Baptists (in my experience), than it is among - I'll toss out 3 examples with whom I have a lot of anecdotal, but no scientific, evidence:
Jews
Black folks
West Point graduates
From my own personal observation, neither Jews nor black folks' in-group preference is as strong at that other one.
So, tribalism is real. Awareness of it is important. I'm all for a pure meritocracy. Of everything. Ideas, results, economic outcomes, all of it.

It’s not stupidity or ignorance. It’s ideology. You are getting the Right Wing version today, but it comes from both sides. These guys are all in with the Ancient Hatreds. They just really don’t like Jews and believe Jews are behind every curtain in the world pulling every string. They minimize this, maximize that, - all while telling you you have dual loyalties or are a Jesus freak or one canned answer after another. To the point that they don’t even realize how ridiculous they sound . It’s their creed, their ideology- and they repeat the mantras accordingly. And once the nail you as a “ Jew lover “ they will stalk you for years. I’ve never entered a synagogue in my life and they are convinced I’m an orthodox rabbi. It’s crazy stuff.
