I actually have a project going researching the Mesopotamian gods and how they were adopted/adapted by different cultures.

I specifically want to get into the line through the Canaanites, when Judaism split off and went from bi-theistic to monotheistic, as well as the line through the ancient Greek gods.

MAYBE if it's intellectually stimulating, I'll then do a third through he Roman mystery cults.

check out Karen Armstrong’s book ‘History of God’. I can only imagine the amount of research she put into that book. It reads like a graduate level text book.
