When you expand "Satanism" into everything that isn't the actual word of (the Christian) God, you're going to include a lot (including other sects of Christianity).

There are Christians who think Catholics worship the devil. It is what it is. Again, I'm not subscribing to anything here. It is what it is.

I know, that's where the expansive definition gets squishy.

Then you apply that squishiness to OP:

quote:

Fighting Against the Idea of Ritual, Widespread Satanic Worship

This scary terminology (Ritual, Widespread Satanic Worship) could be...Presbyterians, or Orthodox Christians. It's not as impactful when you get into the details.

I think in the case of the OP, that was the intention of the thread.

I don't think so for 2 reasons.

1. This started in another thread.

2. He's made recent posts promoting/supporting Hinduism.

At least we'll get some sage words if so.

But... I still want to know how you came to have knowledge of this stuff. It's very dark, very niche. What gives?

Look into ancient Babylonian mystery religions.

I’m not arguing that they’re directly worshipping satan on purpose but some very powerful and influential people are sure out there worshipping things that aren’t Jesus, Allah or Buddha.

I actually have a project going researching the Mesopotamian gods and how they were adopted/adapted by different cultures.

I specifically want to get into the line through the Canaanites, when Judaism split off and went from bi-theistic to monotheistic, as well as the line through the ancient Greek gods.

MAYBE if it's intellectually stimulating, I'll then do a third through he Roman mystery cults.

You should check out Tim Ablberino. You probably won't agree with him on much, but his thoughts on ancient religions, ancient civilizations, and the bible as a history book are pretty fascinating. To me at least.

His interview with Michael Knowles was quality.

check out Karen Armstrong’s book ‘History of God’. I can only imagine the amount of research she put into that book. It reads like a graduate level text book.

One of my long time interest has been the spirituality and religion.
