It's in the second paragraph. She misunderstood an old English legal term called "death recorded." When the premise of your book is that gays were executed in the Victorian era, it would help to know that the term doesn't mean they guillotined the gays but the exact opposite; a pardon.

What’s worse is that her thesis is that we started convicting adults of consensual sex when the cases mentioned were of assaults on minors. It’s what concerns me most on science these days; they ignore/ don’t research data in depth and just got the level that will justify their conclusion. They don’t actually use the scientific method testing on a like for like basis or under similar circumstances.

That was my thought.
She got exposed, but there’s a lot of this intellectual fraud going around. Fraud in the sense it’s poorly researched, and it’s not something the author spent a lot of time thinking about.
It seems like it’s always an English person who points these out. Perhaps it’s cultural, or perhaps their education system is just in better shape than ours.
