FBI Takes Trump Passports

It's being reported that the FBI took Trump's three passports (one expired) during their raid on the Mar-A-Lago residence. Anyone have any thoughts on what purpose the passports will serve in this investigation?

They don't want him leaving the country. But I predict he will leave anyways if they try to indict him.

He hasn't been arrested or charged with any crime. He free to go wherever he pleases.

I agree. Force him to get new ones and stall the whole time. Not like he can't just hop in his plane and leave. I'm sure plenty of places would let him in with no passport.

Typically, if you can afford your own jet to fly overseas you don’t really need a passport. The ultra rich do actually live in a different world.

Not true. Usually customs officers will board a private plane and clear everyone before they get off.
