He will claim whistleblower status.
The Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act (ICWPA) permits IC employees to report an “urgent concern” (even if it involves classified information) to the agency's Inspector General and, ultimately, to the congressional intelligence committees.
He will claim that he could not submit through the normal allowed method under the law because those positions were tainted by Trump supporters.
It is all bullshite but that is the defense he would use. and get away with it.
Since it is all politics now nothing would happen

He disclosed the nature of the memos he wrote. Nothing classified.
oh I get it, you can play the game hot or cold as long as you don't reveal, verbatim, what was in the memos.
idiot.

OK. He claims his memos were classified.
As I understand it (anyone with greater knowledge please enlighten me if I'm mistaken), classified information must originate and remain in the government's secure network.
If those memos are found outside of that network, wouldn't he at least be guilty of the mishandling of classified information?
Of course, no intent and all, but, c'mon, how many of these frickers are going to mishandle classified information without consequence?

Notes taken in Classified meetings can be classified or unclassified. It depends on the content of the notes.
Everyone who works with classified knows this.

Depends.
There are classification guides that specifically list what types of information can be included or left out.
Certain info could be left out of the memo and it would not be classified.
I will give an example from where I work.
A document describing a particular missile was unclassified. Someone who received that document in email asked several people if this particular missile had RAM (Radar absorbing material)
By associating those 3 Letters with that missile the document became classified.
Which caused a whole lot of peoples computers to have to be wiped.

Well Comey.... What say you sir? You leaked classified info... what's the deal moral man.

About that smell Strzok described in a southern Virginia Walmart?
Turns out, it wasn't the smell of Trump supporters as Strzok claimed.
It was his own stench, and BibleJim's.

By his own admission, he had a clear intent in leaking them (to trigger an SC). I eagerly await his indictment and arrest.
This is the fact that blew me away from the get go. Dude gets shite canned, is butt hurt over his firing as FBI director and then takes confidential conversations between him and the POTUS, turns it over to a friend in hopes of getting an SC to investigate Trump.

From what I've gathered if you're part of the Swamp you're free to do as you please with classified info as long as there's no intent.

Comey's reply, "No intent".
Ah, but in the hearing he was asked why he did it. He said to get a special prosecutor assigned to the Russia investigation. We now know that is a sham. So he laid out his intent to undermine the president in the hearing.
