Plus they did not need something extra to go and shut down this lady's bar
No. They needed something extra to roll in a military MaxxPro tank on wheels with a gunner in the turret.
And they trick-fricked the owner by telling her on the phone that day that she was fine as long as there were no guns in the bar.
But the sheriff (right or wrong) relied on the following to roll in his police state goons:
quote:
The statutory definition the sheriff cited appears to be part of Chapter 11.49 of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, which states: “In this code, ‘premises’ means the grounds and all buildings, vehicles, and appurtenances pertaining to the grounds, including any adjacent premises if they are directly or indirectly under the control of the same person.”
In other words, the sheriff relied on over-reaching "administrative law" to storm-troop a struggling bar owner in her little bar in West Odessa, Texas. (While lying to the bar owner on the phone that day in saying she was "fine as long as there were no guns IN THE BAR")
fricking jerk

The Feds have been giving them to locals. My county is getting one for free, so of course they are taking it. And once they figure out what it costs to maintain the will be sure to find a reason to use it.
And no, I have never agreed with it. Police and sheriff departments have no business, nor need, to be armed like a brigade taking Fallujah.
You must live in St George

If only the public adored me and gave me discounts and better parking just for showing up and doing my job.

So he needed to bring in crisis actors from out of town to do this...sure.

Where did you get this. All I've found is she checked with the mayor on opening he said yes within the 25% rule issued by the Governor, then called back and said no, then the protest was organized. I don't find anything where the sheriff said it was OK to have armed dudes present.
Also, she was the one that reached out to Open Texas and invited them over? Did the Sheriff make her do that?
quote:
She said that she messaged the, “Open Texas” group to tell them that she owned a struggling business and that she needed help and Archibald messaged back almost immediately. The idea of the group is that, “All Businesses Are Essential” and the Dallas Morning News reported that, “Open Texas was created to oppose the government orders telling businesses to stay closed and residents to remain at home due to the coronavirus outbreak.”

He relied on that law to arrest the gun-guys (crisis actors?). He was bringing in the armored car and guns regardless of which property line they were standing on or the law regarding same.
