What's the o/u on when this thing gets blowed up? 6 months?
Maybe before construction is complete.

We are literally helping both sides. My history is fuzzy—did we build piers and drop aid packages for the Japanese and Germans in WWII?
Not only that, we are assisting a group that holds American hostages.
Hostages no one ever talks about.

If you are Israel, do you really want a large military contingent essentially on your doorstep? This could be a way to bring Netanyahu to heel.....because make no mistake, Netanyahu has been a pain in the arse for the last 4 US Presidents. We need him, but he needs us much more.
This is a complicated thing that is being done from an overall strategic point and it could have some very interesting ramifications...listen to Zeihan on it, he has a very interesting take which may not necessarily be bad for the US.....or the region.

Not at all. Was just curious if they had publicly opposed it since they were on board with the EU shipments.

But, I suspect that this move while a shite sandwich might be the least shitty of shite sandwiches. Having thousands of Palestinians starve is not good for Israel in terms of relations with its neighbors and with boots on the beach Israel is somewhat slowed and it could stop a humanitarian swell into Egypt which no one wants.
It may also give us some cred from the Gulf States, which is essential to US interest.
The ONE thing I agreed with in Biden’s SOTU was his statement that there will be no lasting agreement and no true combined stance against Iran in the ME until the Saudis and Emiratis are happy with whatever is happening with the Palestinians.
Eta: oh wait, I did also agree with his accurately naming Laken Riley’s killer an illegal.

You should listen to Peter Zeihan on this today. He talks about it and how if it is played right could actually be the beginning of a game changer....we could actually put pressure on the Gulf States to change their tune on a number of things....but also you bring the Turks into the game as well. Kinda convoluted, butif you listen 2 or 3 times you start to realize he may be onto something.

Going to dig this up when I get home.

They should open their doors if they’re so concerned

They won’t, for reasons everyone knows.
I’m a strict pragmatist in the foreign policy arena. How about we deal with the Arabs on the basis of reality instead of clutching sanctimonious 1980’s era platitudes? Because let’s be honest, China and Iran are more important that either Israel or the Palestinians.

We give money to Iran they should have never ever gotten. They get in with Palestinians/Hamas and attack Israel.
We give money to Israel and they attack back at Palestinians/Hamas.
We give money to Palestinians/Hamas to help and now are unbelievably sending troops.
How do Americans not stand up as they burn our money? We’ll play on these iPhones until it’s too late. The citizens of the United States are asleep. We’ll wake up when it’s too late. I hate it for my children.
And don’t get it twisted and play sides (exactly like they want you to), this is not D or R. This is the United States government. It’s the whole thing. They are all in this together.
