is my position that THIS story in the NYT was essentially accurate and that Trump hurts his own credibility (among sane people) when he attacks accurate reporting as “fake news.” It lessens the impact when he criticizes ACTUAL bad reporting

The only people that believe such drivel are insane leftists anyway so it has little to no effect on your President's credibility one way or another.

Do you understand the difference between these two words?
Clearly, or I would not have suggested using one rather than the other.

Of course, the NYT did not claim that the statement was an exact quote.

My favorite part of this whole kerfuffle is Trump’s insistence that the Times should “Use real people, not phony sources,” when the audio clearly shows that the reporters were TOLD BY THE ADMINISTRATION to cite Pottinger only as “a senior White House official.”

If you claim a source said something that was never said how is it unreasonable to assume there is no source!?!?

Deleted portion of the comment, I think you're discussing in good faith.

Are you dense?
Not especially.

Trump is basically throwing a Twitter-tantrum about one word-choice in a 2000-word article.

It's not fine. If we can't get liberals to a baseline of honesty about the press, it will never improve.

As much as I would like for the left to come back to reality I have accepted that they will not.

In the mean time we get to laugh our asses off at them on a daily basis as they ride the TDS roller coaster.

And every week they are pushing regular Americans away from them and towards Trump.

If you're waiting on the left to be honest about anything you'd better not be holding your breath.

You can't get everyone to agree. You will be constantly unhappy.

Pimp says it very clearly...

quote:

Progressivism has entered the realm of Faith or a pseudo-religious belief system ( Postmodernism, The promise of A miraculous State remedy for everything, Critical Race Theory, Group Identity Politics etc). Like religious Fundamentalism it is impervious to fact, it has a strict Orthodoxy, it has developed unique rituals, it has a tendency to Literalism, it is overtly hostile to any challenge whether external or internal, it has created a specific language of unique terms (many which are Orwellian in nature), it enforces the dogma enthusiastically and in many cases cruelly, it fosters extremism and polarization, it views those outside the fold as morally irredeemable, it asks that The State punish the "non-believers" and it can't sustain even rudimentary challenge in the arena of ideas.

Guys to a liberal difficult means impossible, we just need to understand their language.

They claimed it accurately represented the source statement. That claim might have been understandable had the source not BEEN ON TAPE. But the source was on tape. "Impossible" did not accurately represent what had been said. In fact it was a terrible misrepresentation. The NYT should have simply admitted its painfully obvious mistake, attributed it to sloppiness, and moved on. Instead, it doubled down, as Trump knew it would.

The paper's stupidity and provable dishonesty are inexplicable, as is your attempted defense of them.

In other words: if the NYT suddenly starts turning a profit, it’s likely the grey lady is washing something besides Obama’s “legacy”

I just listen to that whole audio.

Considering that Pottinger never said June 12 was impossible, Trump! is 100% right, there is no White House source that said June 12 is impossible.

Well just did a google search and all the suspected propaganda outlets are doubling down on this story.

I feel another "animals" crisis brewing for the fake news cabal.

This perfectly incapsulates Trump and his supporters. Trump attacks the media with lies, supporters think it’s hilarious and/or true. It’s confirmed that he lied (or extremely ignorant) supporters don’t care.

Holy cow. Beautiful. You are talking down to trump supporters as if they are idiots for believing fake news and being extremely ignorant. Your proof....a fake news story that you obviously have not looked into and remain ignorant about. Typical liberal.
