It is a simple mother fricking question that you cannot answer.

Which is better, to campaign to allow people to keep more of the money they earn or to campaign on stealing from one group to pay the other as Biden did with student loan forgiveness?
This, in logic, is called a False Dilemma.
It acts as though there are only two choices in a situation in order to argue for the preferred solution while ignoring that there are more than the two choices presented.

Well, we are taxed on income so tips should be taxed until none of our income is taxed.
This is the correct answer.

Why the frick do I have to pay taxes on income then taxes on goods I buy and then taxes on property I “own”? Why is it their right to tax us on everything?

Why?
Why wouldn't you tax tips and OT
It doesn't make sense why these income sources wouldn't be taxed
Poor person cleaning Ruth Chris bathrooms for minimum wage pays taxes but the waiter make $50-200 and hour doesn't

In an election between 2, its a real dilemma.

You can always go get a job being a waiter? I think it’s ridiculous to tax someone on a tip that they get from someone willingly. Taxes have already been paid on that money when the tipper earned it.

Consumption/sales tax is the way.
It’s funny, Texas has a massive surplus of $ and a top five gdp in the US, and doesn’t charge taxes on food or require me to charge/pay tax on labor or subcontract labor/work.
Texas has more concrete highways than anywhere in the US. We have the best roads and bridges, don’t we folks?
Went to HEB this evening and spent $65 on groceries. Paid $1.17 in taxes because I grabbed an $11 bottle of cab while I was shopping.
You, along with many American tax payers have been brainwashed to think that 30% +/- of your check is needed to fund Washington or defend the US.
I will tell you, promise you, bet you that not a country on this planet will ever invade these shores. Rest easy muffin, my 2A (and millions of others) guarantees it. Allow me to genuinely protect these borders and my 50yo arse will happily stand a post. That is, unless you didn’t really mean Defense and meant the MIC.

With that said, I was merely asking the question, why do people who work in a service industry that’s based on tips not get taxed as much as the rest of us who don’t work off tips?
A tip is a gift and an exchange between one person to another. Should we tax your Christmas gift from Aunt Susie?

I’m emailing my boss right now and telling him I want a tip for last year instead of a bonus.

And my income has already been taxed when I am paying yet another tax. As has money to a church and people scream churches should be taxed. Those donations were already taxed. Servers aren’t special and shouldn’t receive a pass.

Tips are also not set income it’s technically a gift.
Good point. If tips are taxed then why aren't money raised via crowdfunding? They're both gifts.

So should we go after restaurants that pay below minimum wage, making their employees rely on “gifts” for their work?

It was Trump's idea and that's the only reason the Dems voted against it. If the Dems had come up with the idea first the vote would have been 100% in support by the Dems.
The Rems have lost the narrative as they were too focused on stupid ideas that most people won't support.
