On the other hand, he wouldn't be stepping down if he was only "casual friends" with JE and not involved in the sick shenanigans. I cannot applaud him for his actions, because he only took those actions after being busted.
When the investigation first began, if he'd have come clean and cooperated fully to get out ahead of it all, it might be a little bit different.
