Of course not, but I am making a point with a hypothetical.

False. He had the same military at his disposal. He just lacked the intestinal fortitude.

That 800 SAT score of yours was certainly predictive. Kudos to the College Board.

I have no tribe. I have a philosophy on what types of government policies I believe would be most beneficial to myself personally, my community, my state, and the nation at large. I vote in elections based on which individual candidate’s platform most closely aligns with my goals, which is rarely more than 70-80%. When politicians make decisions that I see as aligned with my agenda or could serve to further it, I praise them. When they take actions I do not agree with, I chastise them. The degree to which I praise or disapprove of a given action is the degree to which it departs from my philosophy and damages my long term goals.
I do this because I am an idealist and a pragmatist. I am a realist, but not a partisan. I am a nationalist, but not blindly patriotic. Because I am not an elected politician, I have the luxury of thinking long term and short term. Some policies are really really bad on a 2-4 year timeline, but could be truly revolutionary good on a 20-30 year timeframe. Some policies are needed now to survive while others are ideal down the road for maintenance.
Tribalism is the death of nuance, the death of liberty, and the death of thought. There is no room for these things, only for rallying the tribe against its enemies.

And that is exactly what is needed. The progs and the other Dems need to have zero power. If that means criticizing them even when they do something we would approve of our guys doing, so be it.

What letter lies next to a politician’s name on a ballot is of little significance. R’s and D’s change teams frequently, trade power constantly, yet the same overarching agendas progress: more surveillance, less liberty, more spending, more of the economy consolidated into fewer companies, etc. The R tribe is almost as guilty. I align with them when it suits me, but I am fully aware that most of them suck almost as bad and will sell us out at every opportunity. To be a tribalist is to focus only at the sword in front of you and ignore every dagger at your back.

I seem to remember we were all pretty damn on board with Obama going into Pakistan and taking out Osama Bin Laden.

The only folks chirping about this are America hating democrats, feckless libertarians, and weak republicans that would literally sit on their hands and cry to the sky when the enemy is kicking down their door to put a bullet in their head. They would do nothing to prevent it, unlike our great President is doing this morning...

you're a feckless idiot . . .

Respectfully disagree….
It it the US government versus The People … that’s what it has devolved into. Elements of the government are corrupt , they are stealing taxpayer funds, and they are covering it up with long practiced skill. They have abdicated their responsibilities in favor of the indulgences provided by foreign interests.

You may believe so since everyone on this board is feckless if all they do is post.
However there are places and organizations you can actively participate in to forward the agenda I keep beating the drum about.
I am heavily involved in those between posts here.
