No, there are some posts that are there for informational purposes. There are some that are there for attention whoring. There was no "need" for that post other than to troll/attention whore/brag/whatever you want to call it. The people who the email was directed at, received the email. There was no reason to tweet about it other than to rile people up on one side or the other, which is pretty much the definition of attention whoring
