Stalin killed 2 million to 8 million Ukrainians in the run up to World War II but using Ukraine's food production (currently 25% of Ukraines exports) to feed Moscow even though Ukraine faced starvation and eventually caniballism while their food was sent to Moscow to keep them fat
Hitler went after the Sudentenlands in 38 claiming it was his anyway and it would be his last expansion in Europe.
Putin is doing the same right now in Ukraine and if successful we will be in WW III sooner than later.
America went "isolationist" in the 1930's just like they are now.
Answer this question ...
Cheaper in $$$$ and lives to stop Stalin and Hitler in 38' or stop Hitler in 41' (when Merica entered WW II) and stop Stalin in 46' (when WWII was done and just Red Russia was to be dealt with.
You think about it and give me the wealth of your brain power.

Russia = infantry / artillery / ATG's (defense)
Merica = Armor and air (offensive)
Afghanistan = no US boots on the ground, but got Stingers and such that took out Russian air. Once limited to the ground, Russia got their Vietnam in Afghanistan and had to leave without getting 1 square inch of Afghanistan. Get off your social media and find some smart folks to get your education from so we avoid WW III in the next 3 to 5 years.

Putin can’t take Ukraine and you want me to view him as an existential threat?
There would be no war in Ukraine if we hadn’t flat out said NATO was coming to his border. Our interventionalist mindset has led to the deaths over there the same way I would demand Trump invade Canada if they allied with China and began stationing troops.

We use words to appeal to the masses in a language they can understand. If you are better informed than me, study "Game Theory" and "Public Choice Theory" if you strength is book learning. If your strength is understanding history by being there or educated from birth by those who were, count yourself lucky.
Either way, turn off the news, turn off your phone, and spend some time LISTENING to folks over 80 in your nearby nursing home who still have their wits about them. This may be tough if you have the attention span of a gnat and get your education from your electronic media but it may sink in.
Then get back and tell me what you know then because what you think you know now is not worth 2 dead flies.

I will agree to disagree on the point. If you will read "Senate Resolution 09/21/84 and the final report delivered to Congress on 04/22/88 and then get back to me after you have studied it all, then tell me if you still hold your point.
I am old enough to have been raised by the people who survived Stalin and Hitler and their lessons to learn were not lost. This is not about NATO, this is about a crazy man with not "sensible" counsel in his ear anymore.

If we were in 3rd grade together and your dad is 78 are you sure you are not typing from the memory unit? Did you mean your 78 year old son?
If your dad fought in Korea he knows we had it all the way to the top then the Red China swarmed like an army of fire ants till we had to settle for the middle. My old man an all my uncles fought all over the world in WW II and I learned a great deal of history that never showed up in books from the folks who were there.

I am built like my old man and apparently got his DNA so I had a medium rare ribeye, rosin baked potato, and a real Caesar salad, anchovies and all, not that crap they call a Caesar salad now. (still have almost all my teeth and mobility).
