I grew up a mile away from where Jordan's dad lived. Jordan was so great that just living within a mile of someone related to him was considered brag worthy back in the early 90s. Shocked the entire area when his dad was killed by two thugs.

Yeah, I can see that. Speaking of boxing icons though, the guy I've always really liked is Manny Pacquiao. When that guy fights ceasefires are declared so people can watch. I'm not saying he's the greatest icon or anything, but probably my favorite fighter ever.
Only fighter I've ever seen run out the clock in a championship fight because his opponent refused to quit and he didn't want to hurt the guy.
