The Department of Justice has some good news for President Trump: its Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) has concluded that Mr. Trump’s decision to hire his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as a senior White House adviser does not violate federal anti-nepotism laws.

quote:

The OLC issued a 14-page memo on Friday saying that the president is not barred from appointing Kushner because federal law grants the president special hiring authority that exempts him and his hires from anti-nepotism laws.

quote:

“The most natural and straightforward reading of [the law is] the President may appoint relatives as employees in the White House Office ‘without regard to’ the anti-nepotism statute,” the OLC concluded. The OLC said the federal law is intended to give the president “broad discretion” in hiring White House employees.

This will probably be quite melt inducing although the bootlickers will forget that 6 months ago, they thought it was perfectly fine for the POTUS to be exempt from Federal law.

Hillary would never hire one of their own to work in the family foundation. She would never ride her husband's coat tails into political office either.

Out of curiosity, is this a decision that was in the works before Trump was inaugurated?

For Kushner to be hired? Yes.

One would assume so since he's long announced his intention to hire Kushner.

However, with his DOJ appointee not having been yet approved by the Senate the decision can hardly be called partisan.

I thought I would have overdosed on winning by now but I guess my mind and body are able to handle more than I thought they could.

The only thing that bothers me is that it took them 14 fricking pages to say what you fit in a thread header.

Kushner's father was major democratic donor and persecuted by the east coast gop machine.

If anyone thinks he is the one ushering in any conservative beliefs beyond allegiance to Israel, they better get a pussy hat.
