DOJ Closes Insider-Trading Investigations Into Senators Loeffler, Inhofe and Feinstein

I have said all along that the reason Richard Burr is in deep shite compared to the other 3 senators is that he personally handled the stock transactions himself with virtually no insulation between. Anyone that knew how stock transactions work and really analyzed this story knew this.
Comparatively, the other senators had firewalls and multiple layers of protection between them. They were never going to be charged.

The Justice Department is closing investigations into three U.S. senators for stocks trades made shortly before the coronavirus market turmoil, but is continuing a related investigation into GOP Sen. Richard Burr, according to people familiar with the matter.
Prosecutors on Tuesday alerted defense attorneys for Republicans Kelly Loeffler of Georgia and James Inhofe of Oklahoma as well as Democrat Dianne Feinstein of California that they are closing investigations into their trading, the people said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation began the investigations two months ago, as reports emerged that several members of Congress, their spouses or their investment advisers sold hundreds of thousands of dollars in stock after lawmakers attended closed-door briefings about the threat posed by the pandemic. Some of those trades spared lawmakers as much as hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses as stocks sank by mid-March.
quote:
All of the lawmakers have denied any impropriety in the trading. Ms. Feinstein, Ms. Loeffler and Mr. Inhofe have said their investment advisers made the trades and that they didn’t learn of them until after the fact.
Mr. Burr, of North Carolina, had more direct involvement in his trades and has said he was relying on news reports coming out of Asia, where the virus first emerged, to make his investment decisions. Earlier this month he agreed to temporarily step down as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee after FBI agents obtained a warrant to seize his cellphone in connection with the investigation.
quote:
The closure of the investigation into Ms. Loeffler could give her a boost as she struggles to keep her seat in Georgia. Ms. Loeffler, who was appointed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp to replace retired Sen. Johnny Isakson, is trailing another Republican, Rep. Doug Collins, in recent polls. Mr. Collins has criticized Ms. Loeffler over the trades, but she said last week that she had no plans to drop out of the race.
“Today’s clear exoneration by the Department of Justice affirms what Senator Loeffler has said all along—she did nothing wrong,” a spokesman for Ms. Loeffler said. Representatives for the other lawmakers had no immediate comment.
The execution of the search warrant targeting Mr. Burr, which required approval from senior Justice Department officials and a federal judge, underscored the serious nature of the inquiry into his actions.

Layers or not it’s still bullshite because it’s still insider trading and we all know it. If anything it makes it even more dishonest.
One set of rules for them and one set for us.

Trust me, there is a lot more insider training that goes on that the general public has no clue about.

The only thing the senators here, especially Loeffler are guilty of here is acting like tone deaf, awkward millionaires defending themselves while actually following the law.
That and the timing couldn't have been any worse for them considering it was in the middle of a pandemic and millions were losing their jobs.

The only decent thing Richard Burr can do is hold onto his seat until labor day in September so we can avoid a special election in November of this year.
frick having another special election that makes it harder for conservatives to defend their Senate Majority.

This is the swamp personified.

Is it though? Isn’t insider trading about inside info you have about a public company? Did anybody have a duty not to tell them the info they traded on?
ETA I’m really asking

If you’re gonna play in the Swamp you have to keep up with the rules. I guaranteed everyone of these Swampers who sold positions in the stock market through their brokers/finance advisor conferred with them first to advise their broker to sell.

Collins > your whore Loeffler
A proven conservative.

If you can’t prove those communications happened and have receipts of those communications with the 3rd parties, you don’t have a case against them that would satisfy the guilty beyond a reasonable doubt standard.
The DOJ agrees with me and came to that conclusion and closed the investigation.

A private citizen would have the sec up their asses expecting them to prove their innocence.

I figured from the beginning, given her husbands position and their status, it was a legal move. It was a sh***y move as well, and I’m glad it solidified a Collins win.

I'm tired, I have had enough of this shite.
You were elected or appointed to represent your constituents.
You work for us.
You were not elected or appointed to work for you. You were not elected or appointed to gain information for your private gain.
One of the main reasons why I like our President is that he doesn't give a shite. He is not corruptible. He can't be persuaded by money.
He loves America, he loves the American people.
